Anthony Weiner Wants a Say on His Replacement (The Atlantic Wire)
Wednesday, 29 June 2011
Other than buying the occasional cheap carnations, we haven’t heard much from Anthony Weiner since he resigned from Congress almost two weeks ago. Naturally, the New York Post gets us up to speed: “in a dazzling display of arrogance… Weiner is trying to insert himself back into politics–calling power brokers and would-be candidates for his old seat, hoping they’ll let him play a role in choosing his own successor.” According to a cited unnamed insider, the sexting Representative has reached out to Queens party chairman Joe Crowley to offer his opinion about which Democrat should take over the New York’s Ninth Congressional District seat in a special election later this year. The Post editorializes that Weiner “now wants to be a kingmaker” and is “horning in on the successor race.” We thought Weiner would have a TV gig by now.
